Event Record 04, built around Richard Carrington’s original 1859 sunspot drawing and his account of two patches of intensely bright light. A small Strange Vector Lab record mark sits at the left chest. The solar drawing and event year lead the back, Redhill and the date run down the left sleeve, and the observation geometry forms a compact emblem on the right. Printed on a heavyweight 8.2 oz AS Colour long sleeve in 100% carded cotton, with a relaxed fit, ribbed cuffs and preshrunk construction.

Research / Object history
On 1 September 1859, while observing a group of sunspots from his private observatory at Redhill, Richard Carrington saw two patches of intensely bright light. His original drawing and published account anchor the garment. A major magnetic disturbance followed about seventeen hours later.
